Design Innovators

Top creative talents Claire Maestroni and Giorgio Stefano have partnered on a new showroom and home design studio called Voce Di. Set inside an old warehouse building near Bruce Park, the space exudes industrial chic with its garage-door-fronted entry, similar to the one at the workshop building the designers shared in SoHo. Both European transplants, Claire brings expertise in furniture, lighting and décor while Giorgio has represented many Italian kitchen, bath and flooring lines in the city for years, working with architects and builders. Together, they offer a full range of design services and one-stop-shopping for the home.

“We wanted to create the feeling of a loft,” says Claire. “Clients come in here and feel relaxed. They can spend some time.” She offers guests coffee and invites them to sit down and check out the furniture. Here, there are resources you won’t find elsewhere and that’s the mission, says Claire. “Voce di means ‘voice of’ in Italian,” she explains. “We want to be the voice of designers and also of our customers.”

The latest pieces to grace the showroom are from two modern collections by Calvin Klein, the Curator Line and CK, exclusive in Connecticut to Voce Di. Several styles of Calvin Klein sofas, chairs and tables can be shipped in one week, with a choice of twenty-five fabrics and surprisingly affordable prices. Also tempting clients are fabrics by Loro Piana and Romo, furniture by Kenneth Cobonpue and customizable pieces by Verellen, a Belgian line that includes sofas sized to fit.

Other exclusives here are the contemporary chandeliers, pendants and fixtures from Italy’s innovative FLOS Lighting. Sculptural fixtures from Design by Hive are also available.

The showroom’s floor highlights several types of Didier Cabuy wood flooring made from reclaimed French oak, available through Voce Di. Finishing touches include Belgian carpets from Limited Edition, a machine-made line that ships in four weeks as well as hand-tufted rugs with interesting borders.

For the most modern looks, Voce Di features the sleek, glass-fronted Valdesign cabinetry line as well as Modulnova, which brings stone into the kitchen as facing on cabinets and drawers. Also displayed are vanities from Kreoo, creators of custom stone sinks, engraved tiles and other bathroom accents.
